This series began in December 2020, when my mom received a $130 bill for a FREE Covid test at Baylor Hospital. When I called Baylor, the man explained the test was free, however, my mother was “seen.” I asked, “If the doctor was blind, would we still have been charge?” He explained I did not understand what it meant for my mother “to be seen.” I was very aware how invisible she was to the medical field during her fight with COVID. I decided to photograph her recovery and ensure she was seen by as many people as possible.  The series became a wonderful collaboration between us, which still continues.
